Nàstic de Tarragona is on the brink of disaster. Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Tarazona has left the grana side just one step away from falling to Segunda RFEF, and tensions are running high among a fanbase that has endured a season of struggle. Despite multiple managerial changes—current coach Alfaro is the latest—the team’s poor form has persisted. That loss was the final straw. With only two matchdays left in the league, Nàstic find themselves two points adrift of safety. Their situation looks precarious: they host Europa on Saturday, a team fighting for a playoff spot, before finishing the season away at Hércules.
The decline of Nàstic has been both steep and painful. Last season, they contested the Segunda División promotion playoff final (losing to Real Sociedad B), yet now they face relegation to Segunda RFEF. Their campaign in Group 2 of Primera RFEF has been a Via Crucis, and the supporters have made their frustration clear. Following Sunday’s defeat to Tarazona, vandalism occurred in the car park of the Nou Estadi. Nine cars—belonging to players and members of the coaching staff—were found with punctured tires. The Mossos d’Esquadra were notified of the incidents last night and have launched an investigation. Meanwhile, affected players and staff are filing formal complaints.
In response, Nàstic issued a statement on Monday: “Gimnàstic de Tarragona strongly condemns the acts of vandalism that took place last night at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada, targeting the private vehicles of players and team members. The club and the individuals affected have reported the matter to the relevant authorities.
Gimnàstic de Tarragona is fully aware of the current sporting situation. The club understands and respects criticism, accepting the responsibility that falls on the different levels of the SAE. However, no acts of violence or incitement to violence can be tolerated, as this is a line that should never be crossed in any area of society.
There are two finals left to play. The first is this Saturday against CE Europa at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada. Unity, hard work, and mutual support will be key to keeping our hopes of survival alive. Always, FINS AL FINAL.”
