Paris Saint-Germain, on the verge of clinching their 14th Ligue 1 title, have been blocked by the city’s municipal police from holding a victory party at Parc des Princes this Sunday. The club intended to celebrate their expected league triumph after the derby against Paris FC, but authorities rejected the request due to the late timing of the match.

The Portuguese contingent at PSG—Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos—could see their side crowned champions as early as Wednesday if they avoid defeat against Lens. However, the club had planned a grand celebration at their home stadium following Sunday’s away derby, which takes place at the Stade Sébastien Charléty, located just a street away from the Parc des Princes. PSG officials believed the proximity would simplify logistics for the festivities.

Yet, with the derby scheduled to end around 11:00 PM local time, the Paris municipal police refused PSG’s request, according to French newspaper L’Équipe. With two games remaining, PSG holds a six-point lead and a 15-goal advantage over second-placed Lens, meaning only a catastrophic collapse would prevent them from securing the title this season.
