The decisive Game 3 between Guangdong and Beijing was a do-or-die battle for a spot in the CBA semifinals. Both teams had invested heavily this season and had high expectations. After each team won one home game, Beijing capitalized on their home-court advantage in the final match, delivering a stronger performance to secure the victory and advance to the Final Four. 
The game started tensely, with neither team scoring in the first two possessions. Zhou Qi of Beijing drew two consecutive fouls on Wang Shaojie and scored the first points of the game. Guangdong committed turnovers early, and Zhou Qi continued to draw fouls in the paint. Du Runwang finally broke Guangdong’s scoring drought with a three-pointer. Quinn scored on a fast break, but Xu Jie was forced to the bench after two quick fouls. McColl played aggressively early on, scoring consistently, though both teams struggled with shooting. Guangdong gradually built a lead, pushing it to five points. Zeng Fanbo hit a three-pointer for Beijing, but Guangdong’s McColl and Hu Mingxuan responded, including a buzzer-beating three from Hu Mingxuan to end the first quarter with Guangdong leading 21-15. 
In the second quarter, Quinn extended the lead early for Guangdong. Beijing answered with baskets from Jemaine and Chen Yingjun, while Lacevic contributed inside. Chen Yingjun helped Beijing mount a comeback, and the teams traded scores. Lacevic had a strong quarter, and Du Runwang added another three, forcing a Beijing timeout as Guangdong’s lead reached double digits. Zhao Rui left the game with an injury after a fast break. Zhou Qi returned to draw fouls at the free-throw line, and Jemaine hit a three-pointer. Zhou Qi also drew a foul on Zhang Haojia, sparking a Beijing rally. Guangdong switched to a twin-big lineup, but Lacevic was blocked by Zeng Fanbo. Beijing cut the deficit to two points, forcing a Guangdong timeout. Guangdong’s offense stalled, and Beijing’s Lei Meng hit a three to take the lead. Zeng Fanbo added another three, and Quinn was fouled on a three-point attempt, helping Guangdong break their scoring drought. At halftime, Beijing led 40-35. 
The second half began with Quinn scoring a quick dunk, but Zhai Xiaochuan answered with a three. Jemaine’s three-pointer extended Beijing’s lead to nine. Quinn converted an and-one and then an alley-oop to pull Guangdong closer. Beijing committed turnovers but Guangdong failed to capitalize. Saric was blocked by Zhou Qi, then Saric hit a three. Beijing scored quickly in transition, and Quinn completed another and-one, cutting the deficit to three. Hu Mingxuan hit a beautiful running three to make it a two-point game. Hu Mingxuan was exceptional throughout the night. The teams traded blows, keeping the margin tight, but Beijing led by eight entering the fourth quarter.
In the final period, Wang Shaojie scored first, and McColl added a basket. Zhou Qi’s presence on defense and his ability to draw fouls troubled Guangdong. McColl scored again, but Zeng Fanbo drew a three-shot foul on Du Runwang. Guangdong brought Quinn back, who assisted Zhang Haojia on a crucial three-pointer. However, Guangdong couldn’t stop Beijing’s interior attack. Hu Mingxuan was fouled and made one of two free throws. Chen Yingjun hit a clutch three to maintain Beijing’s lead. Wang Shaojie missed a key shot, leading to a fast-break score by Jemaine that pushed the lead back to double digits. Both teams played with tremendous effort, but the disparity in interior strength proved decisive.
In this game, Hu Mingxuan and Quinn delivered outstanding performances, earning perfect scores. Du Runwang, McColl, Wang Shaojie, Lacevic, and Saric performed adequately, all receiving passing grades. Xu Jie, Jiao Boqiao, Cui Yongxi, and Zhang Haojia were below par, with Xu Jie and Cui Yongxi virtually invisible on the court. Guangdong once again failed to reach the Final Four; strengthening their frontcourt will be a priority for next season.
