This result allowed Medvedev to achieve a rare statistical milestone: he became the third active player to reach the quarterfinals or better at all nine Masters 1000 events on more than one occasion. Previously, only Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev had demonstrated such consistent excellence across the series, as reported by Opta Ace.
In the next round in Rome, Medvedev will face 20-year-old Spaniard Martin Landaluce, currently ranked 94th in the world.
