In the longer race, he shattered the previous world record of 7:55.12 by nearly 55 seconds, crossing the finish line in an incredible 7:00.81. Remarkably, his final 200 meters were run at a pace of 4:10 per kilometer, showcasing extraordinary endurance for his age.
Alonso also broke the global record in the 800m, which had stood at 3:42.52, clocking a new mark of 3:34.32. Though the margin was tighter, the performance was equally impressive.
